In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song in just six months. The song was a mix of pop and reggaeton that was not just a new ear to reggaeton, but also increased interest in Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs in 2016 compared to two songs from 2015. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 mostly Spanish tracks made it into the Top 100 for 2020. there were 41 of them. Following the time that Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, a number of popular artists began collaborating together with reggaeton singers. Drake and Bad Bunny have collaborated to record MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna and Maluma collaborated on Medellin in the year 2019. In the years 2020, many Reggaeton stars were dissatisfied with its direction towards mainstream. However, a younger generation, Rauw Alejandro, was keen to continue the evolution. He often included elements from different genres as well as electronic dance.
