Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of the football scholarship of his family as well as service to the community. The first line of his family was that Selmon is the eldest of nine kids who were raised by Eufala with Lucious Selmon. In football, he played with three of his brothers in Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in United States by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. The three years he was an offensive lineman, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and won two national championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in 1975. Selmon obtained his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. Following college, he relocated to Tampa and played nine seasons with the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. Then he started his professional career. He began his career in 1988. began working as an Account Relation Manager in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 youths of the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He played for the team of 1975. In 1993, he was named associate director of the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame through the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
